My Experience
One of the most special journeys I have ever experienced. From beginning to end, I had the feeling that I was doing the right thing. Before the trip, I felt strongly drawn toward the desert, as if this was exactly the right time for me. During the journey, I kept saying that I felt closer to God than ever before. These words sometimes surprise me myself, as I am not religious in the Christian sense. Still, I felt guided and protected by something divine throughout this journey. I came closer to myself than I had in a long time, experienced a beautiful, healing, and strengthening community, and truly blossomed inside. I carry so much of this experience with me in my everyday life and in my heart. Many of these feelings and insights are still accessible to me, and I can consciously return to them. In difficult situations in daily life, I can draw strength from what I experienced and handle challenges with greater ease.

My Experience
I found the idea of walking through the desert in a traditional way with locals and camels very appealing. The journey is truly extraordinary and completely different from the way one usually travels. For me, it has great experiential value to get to know the world, culture, and nature in this way, because on one’s own travels it is often not possible to go beyond the limits of tourist trips and tours.

This is what makes the journey so personal. There are no tourists, no guide without a personal connection, just the group, with the Bedouins being just as much a part of it as oneself. You feel like part of something that you would otherwise never have the chance to experience in this way, and that is what makes the journey beautiful for me.

It was also a time of intense emotions for me, watching the sunset in the dunes with friends, or singing along in the evening by the fire with the Bedouins to their songs. The wonderful feeling of touching the water of the three wells we passed along the way. The tension of spending a day alone in the desert, and the emotions that come with confronting oneself. The beautiful, but also lonely feeling of being far away from everything, yet still feeling safe and comfortable because you have one or more close friends around you.

It is so beautiful to take a break from all media and consumption, to have little in general. It is beautiful to sleep under the open, starry sky. It is beautiful to ride camels, and it is beautiful to experience the Sahara over several days, in its surprising liveliness and diversity of animals, plants, and landscapes, but also in its sameness, its perceived infinity, and its vastness.

The journey gently draws you out of your comfort zone. It is something new, and you have to be willing to engage with it a little, perhaps open yourself up, reflect, but above all simply be ready and open for an adventure.

I believe that everyone discovers their own preferences or challenges on this tour. And I am sure that everyone has gained very different insights or experiences for themselves or about themselves.

Now, after the journey, I can see this even more clearly, and I wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone who is open to themselves and to the world.had always wanted to travel to the Sahara Desert – not just during the day, but to truly experience the time in between, enjoying the sunrises and sunsets. It was especially important to me to share this experience with a group where you feel comfortable, safe, and free.

My Experience
I had always wanted to travel to the Sahara Desert – not just during the day, but to truly experience the time in between, enjoying the sunrises and sunsets. It was especially important to me to share this experience with a group where you feel comfortable, safe, and free.

I returned not only feeling rested, but also deeply calm inside. It felt as if I had gathered myself again and truly managed to switch off – far away from cars and the fast pace of city life. In the desert, I learned to pause and breathe consciously.

Even more than a year later, I still move through life more relaxed and mindful than before.

After two days, I started washing myself with sand, since in the desert you naturally can’t just take a shower. It worked better than I expected 🙂

I would recommend the desert to anyone who wants to get to know themselves a little better, find inner calm, and realign their direction in life. Add to that a wonderful travel group and, of course, a touch of adventure.

My needs were met with great kindness by the group, and I was able to let go and allow myself to be held.

What motivated you to join the retreat?
I didn’t really know about the retreat itself; for me, it felt more like a journey or a hike in the desert. A chance to be more alone, surrounded by nothingness.

What stayed with you after the retreat, once you returned to everyday life?
Afterwards, I didn’t watch, read, or listen to any news at all. This lasted for about two months, and it did me a lot of good.

You get to know yourself on a deeper level, and the calm that follows is indescribable. When I returned to my work, I was surprised by how clearly I could define what truly matters and what I need to do in life.
